The creativity of many organisations is required to solve the problems of archiving. SDB expects and encourages partners and customers to add features to SDB to deliver the required systems.

SDB has an open interface to its services that allows users to customise the system as needed:

• Published API – allowing access to its features and the ability to upload, manage and access content
• Workflow engine – partners and customers can write and deploy their own workflows
• Migration tools – new tools can be dropped into the system as required
• Reports – new reports can be added by permitted users
• User interface customisation – using style sheets and translation files to provide local look and feel and language

This flexibility means the innovation and creativity of a wider community can contribute to best practice and shared solutions adding to our knowledge of how to face up to the archiving challenges.
