Tessella is highly active in digital preservation research

Tessella’s understanding of the issues surrounding digital preservation means we are able to work with organisations to research into the basic techniques required to enable the archiving to add real value. This includes proof of concept installations or individual techniques such as:

• High throughput ingest, including automatic data characterization
• Emulator technologies to allow long-term access to records
• Persistent Object Formats that reduce the demands of preservation recycling
• Preservation strategies to migrate information to the latest readable form
• Migration tools, including the handling of complex co-dependent formats
• Integration with existing systems
• Responding to the demands of evidential proof, including digital signatures
